Briefly Visible

Mom stepped out for a moment. Now, where's that 4th egg? It's hard to tell. So many shells. That's probably it behind the chick on the right, in the background. For a fleeting moment, I thought the 4th egg was pushed over towards the side of the box, but that clearly has a flat top so it's half of one that already hatched.

Whazzz Uppppp!

I'm beginning to think one of our guys is a little wierd. Reminds me of 'Woodstock' from the Peanuts comic strip. Every single view and the beak is straight up, appearing to be laughing about something. Maybe we have a comedian in our midst?

Well anyway, for now we still are at three and holding.

The band looks silvery, so I assume this is Kinney. Others seem to agree with me, so we'll call this one Mr. K.

First to hatch

It reportedly hatched at 6:15am today, but I didn't see the fuzzball until about 12 hours later.

I'm no expert, but I believe that the top image shows the 'egg tooth' protruding from the tip of the upper beak. But I don't actually know what an egg tooth looks like.

There are three hatched chicks at this time.

Catching a few peeks

Really not much happening these days. But the 'K's are keeping late hours. They were both in the box and awake at 2am.


Around mid-day there was another handoff of the incubation duties.

Baby it's cold outside

After unseasonably warm weather yesterday (near 80 degrees), it's down to just 32 as I write this.

Odd Position

I have no idea what was going on, but it was a very strange position!
